How do I add a qualifying question to my conversation that will trigger the respondent to opt out?

If you're creating a conversation (survey) for web in the Understand section of the platform, you may include a qualifying question at the beginning. For example, if someone answers "no", and you want that to trigger the option of opting out, these are the steps you need to follow:

  1. Go to the survey editor (Edit Conversation Settings tab).
  2. Go to the question you want to use as a qualifier, click on Properties, and make a note of the question ID (the number listed in the drop down menu box under Properties).

  1. Click on the Conversation Logic tab at the top.

  1. Click Add New (under Build), click Select Question, and select the question ID from the dropdown menu (they are usually in the order in which they appear on the survey, but it's better to corroborate with the question ID to be sure).
  2. Select the criteria for the opt out, in this case it is “equals” and “no".
  3. Under Define Actions, select Complete Survey.

  1. Save and return (this will send the user to the complete survey screen).
